I can certainly sympathize with the cause, but, has anyone bothered to point out to the "Typo Eradication Advancement League" that hand-lettered signs have not, by any means, been "typed?"

Oh, burn! I hadn't even thought of that. In fact, most of their targets are grammatical errors, not typographical ones – mistakes of people being stupid, not hitting the wrong key. I admit I've been lazy about conflating the two myself, since there's no quickie term like "grammo." I should quit doing that; it lets people scapegoat their keyboards for their stupidity.
