I agree with everything except the popcorn comment. Popcorn is loud and even if you're chewing with your mouth shut (rare), I'll still be able to hear it.

Yeah, the perfect rule would take into account the action on the screen at the time. You can't completely remove popcorn from the cinema experience – that's crazy! – but you should set it aside during quiet or dramatic scenes. Chomp away while Indy's swinging from a train car, but shut up while Anton Chigurh is sneaking up the stairs.
