The script is a bit uneven, and Stephen Baldwin’s terrible performance gets it off to a bad start, but it benefits from MacKinnon’s tender approach, Steve’s stoic charm, and—of course—Catherine O’Hara. The chemistry with the children is fantastic, and the story is sweet, which makes it easy for me to overlook its imperfections.
