The cast is great, the style is engaging, and the movie doesn’t try to be more than it is. Monster tales are always going to lure a bunch of strangers into a series of confrontations and kill them off one-by-one. The pacing isn’t perfect here, but Banks does a great job of making their stories and interactions fun along the way. Russell, Ehrenreich, and especially young Christian Convery do a lot to elevate their characters.
