The performances are a lot of fun, but the pacing is uneven and there’s a long stretch in the middle where it seems like it’s not sure where it wants to go. It sidesteps some excellent opportunities to clarify the dynamic between Leonard and Felicia in the early going, which makes the middle part feel like Mulligan has little to do but cycle through the same few frowns. Her powerhouse Thanksgiving scene would have a lot more punch if we’d gotten a better look at its buildup.
