Worth seeing for Pascal’s restrained, riveting performance, and some satisfying vigilante violence against some very worthy targets! Altogether, though, it’s a bit of a mishmash, designed to appeal to its creators, their friends, and other Oakland natives from the era. (One of whom is Tom Hanks! He was generous enough to drop in for a cameo, which is definitely a bright spot.) Angus Cloud is also terrific; it’s such a shame we won’t get a chance to see more of what he had to offer.
