Arkin is always a lot of fun to watch, but the story fails to sustain much narrative rhythm, and wastes a lot of time on Holmes’s recovery from cocaine. The music and production design are appealing, and there’s a fun set piece or two, but not much else. I’m not aware of Robert Duvall attempting a British accent before or since, and this performance provides ample evidence to affirm that choice.
