There’s a bit of an overinvestment in quirky style, with the lava lamp video transitions and Qualley pushing the accent a bit too far (for a character with an already delightfully Coeny elocution!). I can’t help liking her, though, and Viswanathan is phenomenal. Everyone’s great, really. Feldstein is fantastic, Joey Slotnick is at his best (not a high bar, but still), and Pascal and Damon make a lot out of quick cameos. It’s imperfect, but more enjoyable than a lot of imperfect films.
