Salazar and Stanfield really shine (as does Silvestri’s jazzy score). Wahlberg isn’t bad, necessarily, it’s just a character type he’s played so much, he seems like he’s on autopilot. I suppose the same could be said of Shane Black. His script brings his usual zippy flair and his direction is slick and energetic, but both feel a bit hollow compared to his better work, which makes it harder to overlook the gaps and missteps.
