Upon repeated viewing, the exaggerated style proves harder to embrace. It’s a thrill to see the craft of acting deconstructed, but the last-minute conflicts are distractingly over-the-top. Iñárritu could’ve varied the intensity and the scenes would’ve resonated better than one loud brawl after another.
