Nolan makes perfect use of Bale’s ability to play characters with an intense, unwavering obsession, and stacks a marvelous cast around him. The cinematography and production design are top-notch, capturing an era and a feeling, and the script’s twists and turns draw you deeper and deeper into a richly satisfying plot that reveals more with each new viewing.
