Captures a similar gut-wrenching trauma as Mare of Easttown, with the same brutal cause-and-effect inevitability, though the shorter format sacrifices character depth considerably. Plausibility might be strained here and there, but I found it satisfying. Fiona Shaw is a treasure, and it’s fantastic to see same-sex couples depicted matter-of-factly like any other couple—no particular focus on sexuality.
