Outstanding music, especially the singing, with some great scenes that contrast the rowdy camaraderie of building and rehearsing a band with the on-stage presence. The script and editing are pretty uneven, though—as though someone picked out some excellent songs, and grabbed a handful of favorite scenes from the novel, but then couldn’t really figure out how to fit them all together.
