Not really; liberal or not, I can certainly see why the media wouldn't want to take a position that would probably have been wildly unpopular with the American public. They've got families to feed. Same thing with the CNN/Iraq thing, how it came out that they weren't reporting half the stuff they found out, because of fear for their own safety to a certain extent, but because of fear of getting kicked out of Iraq by Saddam if they pissed him off to a greater extent.

It has nothing to do with being liberal or not being liberal; that reflex is more about being human. A journalist can be brave, "journalists," I don't expect to be. Human beings operating in a pack environment (which "the media," liberal or not, certainly does) will rarely be accused of posessing anything close to intellectual bravery. That's just the way people are, I can't get too worked up about it.
