An open letter to the Fox Broadcasting Company

Dear Fox,

Arrested Development is, hands-down, the most entertaining program on television today. I congratulate you for supporting and nurturing this spectacular show, and I urge you to remain confident in its abilities. Intelligent comedy is hard to find amidst today's dull, formulaic offerings – Arrested Development is a quality show and it will deliver a larger audience.

With Family Guy, Fox has proven that it can reverse the fate of a show in response to viewer support – but you still have time to save Arrested Development before it is canceled. From The Simpsons and Malcolm in the Middle to Family Guy and Arrested Development, Fox has connected with original, offbeat material like no other network. But your competitors have spied an opportunity to muscle in on that turf with shows like My Name Is Earl and Grey's Anatomy. Keep the bawdy, boisterous Bluths on your airwaves, and retain your rightful spot as TV's edgiest network.

Look at some of the most successful, revolutionary comedy shows of the modern era: Seinfeld and Cheers. Both struggled to find an audience in the early years, because their style and structure defied expectations. But in both cases, the network provided enough time for the show to connect with an audience – and that gamble paid off huge. With your support (a consistent time slot and plenty of promotion), Arrested Development will bring in an audience.

Thank you for your time, and for your support of Arrested Development – television's greatest show.

Arrested Development alert! Fox is dumping the last four episodes like a dead body into one two-hour slot on Friday, February 10th, from 8pm-10pm EST. What a fittingly crappy send-off... but at least they're showing them.
