30 Rock Live!—10:20 PM
Well, I'd give any amount of money to get the full DVD set without that episode. Maybe a regular episode with live fake ads would've been a better idea.
I think the reason the live shows worked so well at UCB during the strike is they were regular episode scripts, not specifically written for live production. Or maybe it's just me.

It wasn't the best episode they've ever done, but I didn't hate it either. The look of the show was distracting, that took some time to get used to. And the presence of the audience certainly changed the pacing of the show and the delivery of many of the jokes. Basically, it felt a little like watching a multi-camera version of 30 Rock, which would be a terrible long-term fit for the show. But as a novelty, it was a fun little diversion. There were some solid laughs, just not as many as in a regular episode.
And it was still far better than The Office, which I'm dropping until Holly returns. (The phone conversation between her and Michael was strong enough to convince me to I will need to tune back in.)

Some solid laughs, yes, which were all that existed to remind me I wasn't watching an episode of SNL with particularly good guest hosts. (The ads were magnificent, but that's one thing SNL consistently does well.) The audience and the pacing – which, of course, go hand-in-hand – were just awful. I'm just so much happier with what I'm used to, and this validates so many of their choices about how the show is normally run (including what Carlock said about it being "overwritten").
Haven't seen The Office yet, but now I'm really looking forward to it! (ha ha!) At the rate of the last few weeks, we probably need to cut a handful of shows, so maybe we'll join you.
