You should link to one of a dude in a "Daily Show" t-shirt talking to guys with slightly larger dollar sign moneybag heads.

Well I think the cartoon is trying to say that groups like FreedomWorks that undergird the supposedly "grassroots" Tea Party movement are actually the same big corporate interests that are at the heart of a lot of the things individual Tea Party protesters are so angry about. That middle- and working-class people are being tricked into wasting their votes on a movement that doesn't have their interests at heart. I don't think it's meant to say anything about campaign fundraising by Republicans or Democrats – if anything, it's referencing the unregulated spending by third parties that's mentioned in your article (e.g., Crossroads). As stated, we can't know who outspent who in that regard (thanks, Supreme Court), but a survey of this season's attack ads can give you an idea which group had more money behind it.
The Daily Show isn't technically a political movement, but I guess I take your meaning. (As long as it isn't that Jon Stewart and Sarah Palin are equally shrill in opposite directions.)

Uh... more like "Gay-ly Show."
By the way, your "national coming out day" scenario inspired some of my own daydreaming; I just imagined you sitting there, looking at election returns from both Florida and California on Tuesday night, after having moved from L.A. to Jacksonville (some years ago, but still). I pictured you, at one point, just slowly closing a laptop, hanging your head, and shaking it disgustedly (your head, that is. Or the laptop, I guess). Then a single tear.
